Introduction
Beau Lotto: Neuroscientist, Entrepreneur, and Author of Deviate
Beau is an entrepreneur and neuroscientist and world-renowned for his work on how the brain adapts to uncertainty.
Uncertainty is the fundamental challenge we all face as individuals and organisations. Great people, leaders and business are successful because they are able to thrive in the very place we hate: in “not knowing”. But how? By creating an adaptable mindset and culture that is grounded in perceptual intellgence, since it’s only in understanding how and you see what you do to you and your teams have the possiblity to see differently.
A professor of neuroscience at University of London as well as a visiting scholar at New York University, our speaker is also a ‘parallel’ entrepreneur. He is founder and CEO of multiple simultaneous companies: Ripple, which holds several highly influential patents in augmented reality (AR), The Lab of Misfits, the world’s first neuro-design studio that unites science and design to help organisations better understand the business they are actually in and how to demonstrate true value in the minds of their audience. Beau has been working in the first of perception, adaptability and uncertainty for 30 years, having published more than 70 research papers. His Lab of Misfits has worked with organizations as diverse as Cirque du Soleil, L’oreal, Whirlpool, BCW Public Relations, and the London Science Museum.
His three mainstage TED talks have over ten million views. He is the author of three books, the most recent of which is Deviate: The Science of Seeing Differently.
“Learning to see the world differently changes everything,” he says. His goal today is to help us do just that.
